Fill-a-Bag & Give Back
A Thanksgiving Event hosted by the SHIELDS for Families ACT Program
in collaboration with other SHIELDS Programs including ASK, Family Support, Homeless CalWORKs Families Project and in partnership with other agencies including The Institute for Maximum Human Potential (IMHP) and Para Los Niños (PLN)
Throughout the month of November, SHIELDS staff worked together to call and visit programs across SHIELDS and reached out to family, friends, churches, neighbors and other community networks inviting them to Take a bag, Fill it, and Give it back. On November 22nd, the “Fill-a-Bag & Give Back” event provided 200 bags of food and a variety of warm clothing items to clients.
Thank you to all the people in the community that donated bags and thanks to the following SHIELDS Programs for donating clothes: HR, School-Based Mental Health, FFT, MST, Training Department, MAT, Therapeutic Nursery, ASK, ACT, CalWORKs, and Place of Family.
We applaud the collaborative efforts of SHIELDS Program Managers Charmaine Utz (ASK/FSS), Jermaine Strickland (ACT), Jonathan Ousley (HCFP) and the partnership between agencies SHIELDS, IMHP and PLN.
The Homeless CalWORKs Families Project will continue accepting donations of warm clothes, shoes, jackets, and bedding through December 6th. All items will be distributed to their homeless clients and the shelters with which they partner. For more information contact Jonathan Ousley jousley@shieldsforfamilies.org # (323) 242-5000 x1239
